Two men and a teenager have been arrested in connection with break-ins at two tool hire businesses.
Police were contacted at 1.14am this morning, Friday November 4, with reports of a burglary at Dale Hire in Parsonage Street, Halstead and suspects were seen putting items in a car.
Officers attended and carried out a search of the area.
While they were making enquiries, a further call was received at 1.35am with reports of a burglary at Anglia Tool Centre in Peartree Road, Stanway.
A Vauxhall Vectra was seen and made off from police, who carried out a search of the area, assisted by a force helicopter.
It was followed to London Road, Woodham Walter, where the occupants got out and ran off.
A number of tools were found in the car, some of them connected to the earlier burglary in Halstead.
A 30-year-old man from Braintree, a 27-year-old man from Writtle and a 17-year-old boy from Chelmsford were arrested on suspicion of burglary and are currently in custody for questioning.
Enquiries are ongoing.
