AN INTREPID trio set off on a 340-mile walk on Monday to raise money for a Great Cornard care home.
Senior carer Teresa Perry, 47, manager Fiona Smith, 37, and her daughter Jordan Wyatt, 17, began their trek from Hillside Care Home, in Kings Hill, to Gretna Green in Scotland.
They are aiming to raise £9,000 to buy a new minibus to take residents on day trips.
Mrs Perry said: “We’ve been wanting a minibus for the home for quite some time, and the residents keep asking about going to places like Clacton for the day, so we decided to do something about it.”
The trio are aiming to complete between 30 and 40 miles each day for 12 days, sleeping overtnight in a tent.
Despite the mammoth task facing them, Mrs Perry is confident they will make it.
“I’m feeling quite excited really. I know it isn’t going to be easy but I am looking forward to the challenge and the adventure.”
