Tributes to Suffolk police officer

Tributes have been paid to a Suffolk Police officer who has died following a short battle with cancer.

Pc Mike Blayney died on Friday, January 8.

On Twitter St Edmundsbury Police referred to Pc Blayney’s death as “extremely sad news”. It said he was “a great police officer and friend” who “will be sorely missed”.

Simon Redgrave also posted a tribute on Twitter. He said: “RIP Mike Blayney. Great friend and former big hearted Pc. You will be hugely missed.”

St Edmundsbury Police retweeted a message from UK Cop Humour describing Pc Blayney as a “gentle giant and a fantastic police officer”.

In a tweet West Midlands Emergency Alerts posted: “Sad to hear that Pc Mike Blayney from @SuffolkPolice died yesterday after a short battle with cancer.”
