Town centre manager’s job under threat
Sudbury’s town centre manager’s job is under threat as funding for the position comes to an end. Jane Hatton’s role was created in 2013 using £60,000 of section 106 money from the Sainsbury’s development.
However, at last week’s Sudbury Town Council meeting, Sudbury mayor Jack Owen told members this funding had been spent quicker than anticipated and the last £16,000 had now been allocated.
Mrs Hatton, who heads the Town Team, is responsible for the Sudbury Food and Drink Festival and recently launched the town’s new promotional website Seeanddosudbury.
Mr Owen described her activities as “wide and varied” but said there were plans to set up a town council events manager. Mrs Hatton is not involved in other council events, such as Party in the Park or the Christmas lights switch on.
Councillor Ellen Murphy asked for Mrs Hatton to attend a council meeting to report on her activities.
