The women’s section of Clare Royal British Legion bade farewell to the town on Sunday - after 68 years’ service - with a parade and church service including local organisations.
The section is closing after the decision to integrate women’s sections with the rest of the organisation to cut costs.
Sheila Martin, branch president and secretary, said: “It will be a sad day for everyone involved with the section.
“We will end with lots of happy memories of money we’ve raised, while we’ve had some very good speakers at our monthly meetings.
Mrs Martin has been involved with Clare Royal British Legion for more than 50 years, along with several members of her family.
She added: “My father Harry Ellingham was involved in the men’s section, my mum Kathleen Ellingham was a standard bearer, and my daughter Elaine Martin is the current standard bearer. There are also several mother-and-daughter relationships in the branch.”
