A schoolgirl from Sudbury, who has been signed to a record deal, is gearing up for the release of her first track.

Phoebe Austin, of Tudor Road, is set to launch pop track Thinking with record company Shlepp Entertainment next month.

The 13-year-old filmed the music video at Sudbury’s Quay Theatre, where it will be screened at a launch event on Sunday, November 25.

“She’s really excited,” said Phoebe’s mother, Claire. “She’s getting everything together and rehearsing.”

The youngsters who featured in Phoebe’s music video, which was filmed over two days, have been invited to the launch event, where they too will be encouraged to showcase their talents on stage.

“They got quite close, so it’s a good opportunity for everyone to come together again,” said Mrs Austin, who is looking forward to seeing Phoebe’s music video after the successful filming.

“It was absolutely amazing; Phoebe said it was the best experience she’s had in her life,” said Mrs Austin.

“It was really surreal to film a music video for a song which she wrote the year before. We all had a great time.”

Mrs Austin said the record company has been very supportive of Phoebe, who attends Ormiston Sudbury Academy.

“She has been playing music all her life and the record label have been really good because they are not pushing her too much – she’s taking it all in her stride,” said Mrs Austin, who praised her daughter for adapting so well to the new lifestyle.

“It doesn’t seem like work to her, and she’s determined to make the most of the opportunity in front of her.”

Phoebe is set to have a rehearsal session with a group of young musicians, with the possibility of forming a band.

“She will play some of her songs which are coming out next year, so we will see how it goes,” added Mrs Austin.

Thinking is released on Monday, November 26.
