A school in Gosfield is to be the first in the area to join a major charity sporting event.

Millions of people have taken part in Race for Life events across the country and now Gosfield School is inviting people along to take part in their own school-based run tomorrow at 2pm.

The 5km race will take place in the 110-acre school grounds, with staff, pupils and parents also taking part.

Even the younger pupils from the preparatory school will be joining in with a special 2.5k run.

While all money raised from the race will go to Cancer Research UK, the school’s parent teacher association is hoping to raise money through a cake and refreshments stall.

The school is the first in the area to take part in a new initiative from the charity to get boys and girls from schools to take part in the race, which has traditionally only been entered by women.

Principal Dr Sarah Welch said: “We are delighted to be the first school in the area.

“Gosfield pupils, parents and staff will be helping to raise money and awareness of the marvellous work of Cancer Research UK.”
