Long Melford Parish Council is carrying out a housing needs survey in the village to help shape future developments.

The village-wide survey will be analysed by a rural housing enabler at Community Action Suffolk.

The findings will give the parish council a picture of local housing requirements to inform future development proposals.

Councillor John Watts, who chairs the parish council’s group on affordable housing, said that some residents may be forced out of the village due to a lack of suitable accommodation.

“Property prices remain high in the village and the supply of affordable homes to buy or rent is limited,” he said.

“With help from volunteers, we will shortly be delivering a housing needs questionnaire to every home in Long Melford.

“It is vital that all residents complete and return the questionnaire as the housing needs of the village are so important to everyone.”

The survey needs to be returned to Community Action Suffolk by February 15.

Additional copies will be available from the library.
