A dry cleaning store in Sudbury is under threat of closure after its parent company announced plans to close a third of its stores nationwide.

A final decision has yet to be taken on whether Johnsons Cleaners on Market Hill, Sudbury, will be one of the stores to close.

Another empty shop front would be a bitter blow to the town’s high street after several closures in 2014.

A spokeswoman for Johnson Service Group said: “No decision has been made yet as we are still in the consultation process and staff affected haven’t been told.”

The UK’s largest dry-cleaning chain said it will close more than a third of its stores this year in a move set to impact hundreds of jobs.

Johnson Service Group plans to close 109 of its 307 Johnson Cleaners branches as it shifts away from traditional high street locations towards collection and delivery points.
