Sudbury’s heritage museum Gainsborough’s House is to feature on the BBC One programme Countryfile on Sunday, April 14, at 7pm.
Mark Bills, the new executive director at Gainsborough’s House, said the presenters of the programme came to Sudbury last Wednesday.
They filmed inside the museum and then went out and about around Sudbury visiting locations painted by the famous 18th century painter.
“They even dressed up in costume and posed in the style of his famous work Mr and Mrs Andrews,” he said.
“The programme is about the painter and his relationship with his surroundings. The BBC approached us and we are looking forward to watching it,” added Mr Bills.
Thomas Gainsborough was renowned for his landscapes and the museum, in Gainsborough Street, houses a permanent collection of his work, encompassing his whole career, from early portraits and landscapes painted in the 1750s in Suffolk to later works from London.
