A 59-year-old man, who indecently assaulted a pregnant woman, has been sent to prison.

Kenneth Cox, of Lucas Road, Sudbury, had touched the woman’s inner thigh during the incident in May.

On Thursday, Ipswich Crown Court heard that the woman had been sitting on steps close to Cox who had a glass and a bottle of wine with him.

After complementing the woman’s legs, Cox had touched her thigh and then followed her as she moved away, putting his hand on her stomach.

Cox had pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the woman, who the court was told had been 34 weeks pregnant at the time of the incident.

At the crown court, Cox, who represented himself, expressed remorse and apologised for any distress his actions had caused the woman.

Judge Rupert Overbury jailed Cox for 14 months and ordered him to sign the sexual offences register for seven years.
