AN application to build 43 homes and four business units in Sudbury is set to be discussed.
The proposals for a site on land east of Brundon Lane and Bulmer Road have been drawn up by Sandhurst Newhomes Ltd and Venture Capital Associates Ltd - two property developers.
As part of the plans industrial buildings, known as Sudbury Autofactors and Lury House, would be demolished and a range of homes and flats built in their place.
A total of 79 parking spaces would be provided for the development, which goes before Babergh District Council’s development committee on Wednesday.
The plans are expected to receive a mixed response and have already been the subject of a number of letters of objection, with claims the properties would be too large, cause a loss of privacy in the area and are out of character.
Sudbury Town Council has also raised concerns about the lack of a playground and open space on the site.
However support for the plans has welcomed improvements being made on the land which is an “eyesore” and has been occupied by travellers in the past.
The application has been recommended for refusal.
