A public meeting was held on Saturday to try to find enough volunteers to create a working party to manage woodland behind Sainsbury’s supermarket in Cornard Road, Sudbury.

Nearly 50 people turned up, which Sudbury trees officer Jill Fisher described as “quite unexpected”.

After visiting the site, Lord Phillips of Sudbury said he hoped the town council would, with volunteer support, be able to realise the site’s “undoubted potential”.
