Students open up online world to elderly residents
Most people take using the internet, watching Youtube and taking ‘selfies’ for granted, but residents at two Halstead care homes have been getting lessons.
Pupils from the town’s Ramsey School have been teaching those at Symonds Court and Gladys Malpass all about the online world and in return hearing stories of how residents spent their own teenage years. Students then wrote essays about their experiences and Sholanda Baker, 15, Leanne Bedlow, 15, and Ashley Mills, 13, were chosen as winners. The scheme was part of Greenfield’s Community Connect.
