A police community support officer, who has spent more than a decade working in Sudbury, has been given a special send off.

Linda Turkentine has retired after clocking up 10 years in the role.

Last Wednesday, students at the Bridge Project in Gainsborough Street – a charity Linda regularly visited over the years – held a tea and cake afternoon to thank her for her service.

“Linda has been absolutely pivotal in keeping our students safe, always educating them on safety in the community,” said charity founder Annesta Newson.

“She will be sorely missed by all of us at The Bridge and we wish her a very happy retirement.”

Linda said she had thoroughly enjoyed supporting the charity, which assists disadvantaged adults.

“My job here has been about coming into the students’ environment, making sure they get to know us better and feel comfortable talking to us,” she said.

“I have made some wonderful friends and will miss all the faces at The Bridge Project.”

Fellow Pcso Andrea Campbell will continue to work with the charity.
