Stellar line-up of shows for Theatre Royal’s new season
Star names including Ruth Madoc, Brooke Vincent, Lesley Garrett and Julian Clary will grace the stage for the Theatre Royal’s new season.
The Bury St Edmunds theatre has lined up a stellar roster of shows with adaptations of classic stories, new writing from some of the UK’s best loved companies, comedians plus dance and music performances.
Opening with the moving Shadowlands (July 11 to 16) about life, loss and love, the drama continues with producer Bill Kenwright and the Classic Thriller Company’s Rehearsal for Murder (August 8 to 13). Hi De Hi actress Ruth Madoc and Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent star in comedy Be My Baby (October 17 to 22) and the Black Theatre Live return with a version of Hamlet (September 20 to 23).
John Godber’s This Might Hurt (September 26 to 28) looks at the pressures and pains of the health service. Former Theatre Royal artistic director Colin Blumenau returns with his company The Production Exchange to stage Lady Anna: All at Sea (September 13 to 14).
There will be music from Lesley Garrett on November 9, Dillie Keane (September 18) and The Voice of the Heart - Karen Carpenter (February 14). Stand-up comedy includes Jo Caulfield (October 1) and Julian Clary (October 29).
Continuing its tradition as a producing house, the theatre presents Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey (February 2 to 11) and panto Beauty and the Beast (December 2 to January 15). For more shows and to book, visit www.theatreroyal.org
