STAFF at a town centre supermarket raised hundreds of pounds for a charity that is close to their hearts.
Workers at Waitrose in Sudbury organised numerous fundraising events in order to raise £300 for the British Heart Foundation – a charity which strives to prevent and reduce heart disease.
The Station Road store’s team wanted to help the charity after seeing two members of staff fall victim to heart disease in the last 18 months.
Ann Jarvis, the branch’s charity co-ordinator, said: “We know what good work the charity does having lost two workers here to heart problems.
“Everyone clubbed together to raise the money and the British Heart Foundation is very happy with what we have done.”
Staff took part in the Sudbury Fun Run, and ran cake stalls and bucket collections to raise the cash, which was presented to the charity on Monday.
