A MOVE to extend the flying hours of the region’s air ambulances over the summer months will mean more lives can be saved.
The East of England Ambulance Service Trust has teamed up with the East Anglian Air Ambulance and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust to ensure the six counties they serve are covered for longer.
The helicopters, all of which carry life-saving support equipment, will work in shifts to cover the region from 7am to 9pm.
Steve Whitby, deputy chief executive of East Anglian Air Ambulance, said: “Longer days mean that we have a larger amount of daylight hours to cover.
“We are looking forward to this partnership to provide the best possible pre-hospital care to those in the region.”
