Sentencing deferred

A JUDGE has postponed the sentencing of a man charged with the false imprisonment of a woman in Clare.

Derek Bowering, 42, had been due to be sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court on Monday.

But after hearing submissions from defence barrister Jonathan Goodman, Judge John Devaux agreed that more details were needed about a package of care and support from the Probation Service.

Bowering, of Abbotts Road, Haverhill, pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to twice being in possession of a bladed article in a public place on January 31. He also admitted an offence of false imprisonment of a woman in Clare on the same date.

Judge Devaux told Bowering he would continue to be remanded in custody until he is sentenced on Monday.
