VOLUNTARY and community groups will be out in force at a biennial event this weekend.
More than 100 clubs and societies are set to attend the third Sudbury on Show at the town hall and St Peter’s on Market Hill on Saturday.
The event, which is expected to attract around 3,000 visitors, was originally set up by Lord Phillips of Sudbury to raise the profile of the town’s voluntary groups, including those promoting sport, youth, leisure and community. It is now run by the town council.
Sue Brotherwood, town clerk, said: “There are so many wonderful groups available in Sudbury run largely by people who give up their time for the benefit of others.
“Sudbury on Show gives them the opportunity to showcase what they bring to the community and hopefully it will inspire others to get involved.”
Groups exhibiting at the event from 9.30am to 3pm include AFC Sudbury, the Art Club and the Wildlife Trust.
Several clubs will also be at Sudbury Upper School in Tudor Road today before the main event as they aim to introduce pupils to the voluntary sector.
