A 27-year-old man, arrested following the burglary at the BP garage shop in Northern Road in Sudbury, has now been bailed to return to police on April 12.

A second person – a 25-year-old woman from Benfleet in Essex – has also now been arrested in connection with the incident. She has also been bailed to return to police on the same date.

Officers were called around 2.40am yesterday, Tuesday, February 9, to reports of a ram raid at the premises on the Chilton Industrial Estate.

An ATM was taken, however it did not contain any cash.

The cashpoint was later located in Maldon in Essex and the 27-year-old man, from London, was arrested on suspicion of burglary. The 25-year-old woman was also detained in Essex and both were taken into custody where they were interviewed in connection with the raid. Both have now been bailed to return to Suffolk Police on April 12.

Officers are continuing to ask anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Northern Road area of Sudbury around 2am – 3am yesterday morning or anyone with information about those involved to call Suffolk Police on 101, quoting CAD number 16 of Tuesday 9 February, or to call Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
