School’s out for teacher who is top of the class
Clare primary school children said goodbye to their head teacher this week, Mrs Joan Horner, who retired after 14 years.
Mrs Horner, 60, whose teaching career spans 39 years, has worked mostly in Suffolk and was previously at primary schools in Wickhambrook and Kedington, near Haverhill, and Tudor Road, Sudbury.
School governors, pupils and parents staged a tea party for Mrs Horner last week. She said: “How they managed to keep it a secret I’ll never know.” She was presented with a bird box and camera, a garden bench, and jewellery. “I am going to miss the children and my colleagues greatly,” she added.
