Children made scarecrows at a Sudbury school this week to promote their up-coming farmers’ market event.

Tudor Church of England Primary School in Tudor Road is holding the event to encourage the children to make healthy choices around food.

Class teacher Helen Appleton said: “We are involved with the Soil Association’s Food For Life campaign.

“The whole school is involved, so we thought we would have a farmers’ market.

“Each class takes a different food, for example herbs or strawberries, and makes things with them such as jam or herb bread, which we will sell.”

At the event at the school on July 1, from 2.30-4.30, there will also be an exhibition of scarecrows on the school field.
