Great Cornard parkrun bid a fond farewell to its retiring event director and founder, who oversaw her final run with record participation.

A large crowd of runners braved the chilly temperatures on Saturday morning for the village’s 254th parkrun.

The occasion served as a send-off to Lisa Dalton, who is stepping down from her role, having overseen more than 100 runs since setting up the weekly event in March, 2014.

As an added bonus, her team of fellow organisers achieved their goal of attracting the event’s highest ever attendance, shattering the previous record by more than 50 runners.

Lisa Dove, a member of the core organising team, said: “We smashed the course attendance record with 233 participants. We had a brilliant morning.”
