A BOWLING alley was ram-raided by a car in the early hours of the morning during an attempted burglary.

A stolen red Fiat Punto was driven into the front doors of Strikes Bowl in Byford Road, Sudbury, at around 1am on Thursday.

Trudy Jackson, deputy manager at Strikes, said damage caused by the incident was minimal.

“They didn’t manage to get in as they were disturbed by MacDonald’s staff who were finishing their shift,” she said.

“The door was a bit bent out of shape but we have got it all sorted out.”

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police said it was believed four people were in the car, which was later found burnt out in Ely, at the time of the burglary and at least two, including the driver, were male.

“The driver is described as a white man, between 17 and 20 years old, of slim build, with very short dark hair and clean shaven,” she said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information should call Sgt Alison Goodwin from Sudbury on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
