ROADS regularly used as “race tracks” in Sudbury are to be monitored by CCTV cameras.
Many drivers using the Churchfield Road and Waldingfield Road roundabouts, near Chilton, have witnessed cars speeding along the roads and going the wrong way round roundabouts late at night.
Colin Spence, county councillor for Sudbury, said the problem needed to be stopped and he was putting money from his locality budget towards implementing CCTV in the area.
“This is a critical issue as some drivers are using this stretch as a race track and going the wrong way round roundabouts,” he said at a Sudbury Town Council meeting on Tuesday.
“I have been faced with this myself and it is not a nice experience.”
The cameras are expected to go up in the coming weeks.
