A PUBLIC meeting to discuss plans by National Grid to build a new line of 150 foot high electricity pylons will be held in Wickham St Paul next month.
The action group Stour Valley Underground, which has campaigned for placing the cables underground, has cancelled its planned earlier meeting because many residents affected by the plans were on holiday.
It will now hold the event at the village hall on September 14 at 7.30pm.
Twinstead councillor David Holland, who chairs the group, said: “We had intended to follow National Grid’s second local event in Twinstead with our own public meeting on August 17, only to discover that, as we said, many local residents will be unavailable.”
National Grid recently announced that it plans to upgrade pylons along an existing route from Bramford, near Ipswich, to Twinstead, south of Sudbury. There are also plans to build a new sub-station near Twinstead.
National Grid has already held a number of public consultation events, with the next taking place today at Hintlesham and Chattisham Village Hall.
The event will run from 3pm to 8.30pm.
