PRINCE Charles made a visit to Wattisham Airfield as he awarded medals to soldiers who have fought in Afghanistan.

In total, the Prince of Wales handed out 35 operational service medals, three long service and good conduct medals and one meritorious service medal, on Wednesday.

The soldiers who received honours were all members of two squadrons from 4 Regiment Army Air Corps, who completed a four-month tour of Afghanistan in January flying Apache helicopters.

During his visit, the Prince thanked soldiers for their bravery and also took the chance to have a quick catch up with his son, Prince Harry, who is currently training as a helicopter pilot at the base.
