Alternate meeting times pose problem

Members of Babergh District Council have voted to alternate meeting times in a bid to boost attendances.

During a full council meeting on Tuesday, members agreed to switch between holding full council meetings at 9.30am and 5.30pm.

It is hoped the change will allow councillors with other commitments to attend meetings more regularly and also give residents a chance to sit in.

However, Jack Owen, district councillor for Sudbury, said the change could result in a drop in attendance levels at evening parish council meeting due to clashes.

“It will be interesting to see what affect this has as some meetings could be missed,” said Mr Owen.
