A 44-year-old man who died following a road traffic collision in Clare on Sunday has been named as Sean Hickey from Connaught Road in Haverhill.

Mr Hickey was riding his cycle along the A1092 Nethergate Street in Clare around 3.30pm on Sunday, May 1, when he was involved in a collision with a Citroen Xsara Picasso. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

In a statement Mr Hickey’s family paid tribute to the 44-year-old.

“Sean was a much loved son and brother. He grew up in Haverhill and although lived in Wales for a while moved back to Haverhill a few years ago.

“Sean was a keen cyclist and had many friends within the cycling community, taking part in many cycle rides.

“Sean was friendly and outgoing person, he would help anyone who needed him. He had a lot of time for his family and looked after them.

“Sean will be greatly missed by all that knew him.”

Police are continuing to ask anyone who saw the incident to call the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Suffolk Police by dialling 101 and quoting CAD number 232 of May 1.
