JOYriders who hit two parked cars and a house are being hunted by police.

The collision took place in Stambourne, near Halstead, when a vehicle struck two parked cars and a house in Chapel End Way before driving off at 2am on Saturday.

Officers found a numberplate at the scene which had fallen off a blue Nissan Almera and traced this car to an address in Alpheton. However, the car was found burnt out in Hundon at around 9.30am on Sunday.

Police have spoken to the car’s registered owners, who had reported it missing at midday on Sunday.

Investigating officer Pc Niki Golling, from Essex Police, said: “We are trying to establish who stole the car and the vehicle’s movements after the collision in the early hours of Saturday morning through to its destruction the following day.”
