Police in Braintree are trying to find the owners of a box of keepsakes found by a member of the public in Colne Engaine.

The box was found discarded in a ditch and it is possible that it had been stolen.

The red velvet box appears to contain keepsakes from the birth of a baby in 1960 and we are keen to reunite it with its rightful owners as it appears to have a strong sentimental value.

The box contains an East End Maternity Hospital patients discharge card, a blue glove, a pink brush, a pink child’s toy with a rabbit attached, a saucer, a small spoon, a small metal goblet and a large metal ring.

Anyone who recognises these items is asked to contact Pc Danny Wheeler at Braintree CID on 101.
