PICTURES: Winter art exhibition in Thorpe Morieux raises almost £800 for Suffolk Artlink charity
Eighteen artists exhibited their work at a fundraising art show in Thorpe Morieux Village Hall at the weekend.
Raising money for an arts charity, The Heart of Suffolk Art Winter Exhibition contained paintings, prints, pottery and jewellery made by established artists who are members of Suffolk Open Studios.
This is the third year the exhibition has been held.
Organiser and artist Rebecca Guyver said every artist donated a piece of their work for a fundraising raffle.
She said: “For the raffle, we have 18 jam jars. You put your ticket with your name on into one of the jam jars and a winner is picked. It means that ticket-holders always get the piece of art they wanted.
“It’s always a very successful raffle that raises funds for Suffolk Artlink, which is Suffolk Open Studios’ chosen charity.”
She said the exhibition was well-attended, and raised £793.02.
“One of the things that has brought our group together is a love of Suffolk and we make work to celebrate it,” she added.
Artwork on display and for sale included still life, portraits, landscapes and abstract work.
