PICTURES: Lavenham hosts first farmers' market of 2019
Scones and jam were on the menu at Lavenham’s farmers’ market on Sunday, along with a host of other food and drink from local suppliers.
Held in Lavenham Village Hall on the fourth Sunday of the month, the market attracted stalls from 37 producers.
“It was very full and busy,” said Justine Paul, who runs six farmers’ markets, including an event in Sudbury, which is held in St Peter’s on Market Hill on the last Friday of each month, from 9.30am to 2pm.
“People come from all over the area because they like what’s on sale.”
Her business, Suffolk Market Events, has been shortlisted as an East of England regional finalist in the Countryside Alliance Awards in the rural enterprise category.
She will find out if she has won at the national finals, which are being held at the House of Lords in June. More than 17,000 nominations from UK businesses have been submitted.
