PICTURES: Great Cornard summer fete draws hundreds for day of fun and games
Great Cornard was buzzing with games, music and entertainment on Saturday for its annual summer fete.
Held at the Stevenson Centre, hundreds of visitors were treated to a variety of activities, with the emphasis on community fun.
With musical entertainment from the Long Melford Silver Band and the Hadleigh Ukelele Band, other fete attractions included a dog show, a bungee run, gladiator game, boot sale and barbecue.
There was also a display of classic cars and motorbikes.
The fete is organised by the Great Cornard Community Association.
Committee chairman and parish councillor David Young said: “It was a successful day and was packed for the first few hours until the rain came down. But it was good to have fine weather because last year we had blistering heat.”
He added: “The idea of the fete is to get the community together. It’s a big undertaking by a small group of people and we are always looking for people to join the committee or help out when they can.
“Anyone interested can leave their details at the Stevenson Centre and we’ll get in touch with them.”
The fete was resurrected six years ago after a gap of several years.
Mr Young added: “We always try to have traditional stalls you would find at a fete. Our aim is to provide something for everyone.”
