Physio’s memories bring house down at Rotary lunch

Sudbury Rotary Club’s recent Monday lunch meet was a fun affair as former Arsenal, England Ladies and AFC Sudbury physio Tony Brightwell gave a talk.

Mr Brightwell provided an entertaining look into the world of footballers, their sometimes questionable intelligence, the madness of managers and the fashions and superstitions that lead injury prevention methods used by players.

Mr Brightwell spoke about the ladies he worked with, saying, unsurprisingly, they were much better listeners than men, and on the different communication methods of managers.

“Some are clever, some are okay and some are just idiots,” said Mr Brightwell.

He once won a bet after a manager swore 140 times in one half-time talk.

“Most swear a lot, some just swear and swear and swear.”
