St Andrews School, Great Yeldham, were beaten on 
penalties in the final of the 
Essex FA Small Schools soccer sevens tournament.

They lost 3-2 on penalties to St Peter’s CofE, Chelmsford at Beacon Hill Rovers, Witham,

They finished runners-up in their pool, and beat the winners of the opposite pool, St Mary’s, Hatfield Broad Oak, in the semi-final.

The squad was made up of boys from Years 5 and 6 — Toby Lewis, Ezra Roper, Lewis Wilson, Joshua Stanley, Sam Felton, Roman Young, Brady Belton and Harry Honeywood.

Long Melford Colts Under-14s were beaten 5-2 by Stowmarket Town Hornets.

Freddie McCracken and Zinzan Forster scored Melford’s goals.

Cornard Dynamos Blue Under-13s were 9-1 victors over Tempest thanks to goals from Harrison Brown (three), Jacob Gilbert (two), Alf Gittings (two), Ross Martin and Daniel Meekings.

A 12-goal thriller ended with Cornard Dynamos Under-12s on the wrong side of an 8-4 result against Frinton and Walton.

Mitch Frew netted for Cornard in the first half, but Frinton moved into a 5-1 lead.

Ben Barton scored twice and man-of-the-match Lewis Plumb once, but Frinton were on target three more times.

Cornard Dynamos Blues Under-11s recorded their fifth successive win, 8-1 against a spirited Wivenhoe.

Alfie Haygreen (four), Lewis Bowen (two), Jack Hurrell and Angus Mills were on target.

Cornard Dynamos Reds Under-11s went down 3-1 at Lexden Reds, despite Callum Scott earning and converting a penalty in the first half.

Ben Allen went close and Jake Davey put in an all-round battling midfield performance.
