A COUNTRY park has received a boost after a £10,000 project to install new equipment was completed.
As other parks and areas of open space across the region face an uncertain future, Great Cornard Country Park in Blackhouse Lane has created a health and fitness area filled with exercise equipment.
Michael Fitt, Great Cornard Parish Council manager, said: “The park has 30 acres of open space and lots of people enjoy walking their dogs here, while others are interested in the wildlife, but there wasn’t much for the kids.
“Now we have something for them to play on, which will bring more people to the park.”
The park, which boasts a nature reserve containing wild flower meadows and woodland, now includes a balance beam, rope bridge and climbing wall, all of which were supplied thanks to a grant from Babergh District Council.
Mr Fitt added: “The installation only took a couple of days but this has been a long-term project.
“There are 11 pieces of new equipment, with some that are fairly challenging and I’m sure they will be well used by the growing population in the village.”
