An opticians which offered free assessments to help those with dyslexia has extended the scheme after its success.
Wardale Williams held a week-long event offering support and advice at its practices in Sudbury and Halstead in support of Dyslexia Awareness Week, run by the British Dyslexia Association.
As part of the event, people were offered free coloured overlay assessments, which can help assess which particular colour may benefit some people with dyslexia to significantly improve their reading skills.
The opticians has decided to offer the free assessments until the end of the year after the success of its initial event, with many people booking in for the tests.
Joanna Williams, senior optometrist at Wardale Williams, said the event was well-attended at both its practices.
“We have decided to offer the free assessments until the end of the year to support people in our area who have dyslexia,” she said.
“This method can dramatically improve people’s reading skills, learning ability and future prospects.”
