Making music is not frowned upon at Sudbury Library – at least not for these pre-school children who have been given some percussion instruments and bean bags for their once-a-week club, courtesy of the Friends of Sudbury Library.

The children meet on Thursdays between 9.15am and 10.15am to listen to stories at the Bookstart club.

Drums, maracas and xylophones were donated by the friends group which, in the past, has also helped by donating furniture and gravel for the library’s atrium garden.

Stella Bixley, a library staff member who runs the club, said: “The children have a great time with story time and rhymes. It’s for babies and toddlers every week, and it’s free.

“Any new mums with babies are very welcome to attend and we are open during the school holidays too,” she added.
