Sudbury’s new community health centre will be officially opened by Lord Phillips of Sudbury on Saturday.
Local people are being invited along on the day to take a tour of the building, meet staff members and learn more about the range of NHS healthcare services provided.
There will also be a variety of fun activities for children, such as learning a nursery rhyme in sign language and some tooth brushing games.
As well as being the official opening of the new facility, which has been delivering health services since January this year, the event will also mark the achievements of those involved in the completion of the project.
The £10 million project has been delivered by the NHS West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group, the GP-led group of healthcare commissioners, working alongside local people through the Sudbury Locality and Implementation Group, Assura and Galliford Try and landlords NHS Property Services.
The event begins at midday with the official opening taking place at 2pm, finishing at 2.30pm.
Jo Finn, NHS West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group’s patient and public lay member said: “This is an exciting day, as it will bring together many of the people who made sure this new health centre was built.
“It’s amazing to think that the idea of a new health facility was first raised more than 40 years ago, and it is pleasing that the clinical commissioning group, our local partners and the people of Sudbury have worked so hard together, with one vision, to finally see this project completed.
“I know that good feedback has been received already on how the centre has improved local healthcare provision and I believe it will have an important role in the community for many years to come.”
Gemma Covey, site manager at Sudbury Community Health Centre, said: “We’re looking forward to inviting in the public so they can see all the services on offer at this excellent new facility. Bring along your children as there will be a variety of fun challenges for them to take part in around the centre. This health centre is for the community of Sudbury, so we want to invite you and your family to show what we’re providing for the town.”
