Sudbury pub top of the toilets

IT may not be the most obvious reason for visiting a pub, but clean toilets count.

And regulars at Grover & Allen in Sudbury must be thankful that every time they have to spend a penny the surroundings are more than adequate.

That is because the pub in North Street has just achieved the highest rating for the quality and standard of its toilets in the Loo of the Year Awards 2011.

The pub was awarded a five-star rating by inspectors, who paid an unannounced visit to the premises earlier this year, and judged the facilities on their decor, cleanliness, accessibility and hygiene equipment.

Sarah Bradley, the pub’s manager, said she was delighted with the award.

“Staff at the pub work hard to ensure that the toilets are in first-class condition at all times and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors,” she said.
