You may think it is udderly ridiculous that rare breeds cow Gloria only came sixth in a competition to find the UK’s cow of the year, but she was almost moo-ved to tears.
Thanks to her striking good looks and dashing coat, eight-year-old Gloria, an English longhorn kept at Kentwell Hall, received more than 2,500 votes to claim a top 10 position in the competition run by The Collective Dairy company.
The contest gave Gloria, who was hand reared at the hall in Long Melford, a chance to take the limelight. “Gloria is my favourite cow,” said Kentwell owner Judith Phillips.
“As she was hand reared, she is still considered an outsider by her herd, so it has been fantastic to see her do so well in the competition.”
