PEOPLE who make a special contribution to their communities are being invited to enter an awards scheme.
Babergh District Council is on the lookout for individuals, voluntary groups and businesses that help improve the lives of people where they live and work, as it launches the 20th Community Achievement Awards.
Jill Barton, Babergh’s community development officer, said: “Without these special individuals, our towns and villages would not thrive and grow and this is our way of saying a huge thank you by recognising their dedication and commitment with a community award.”
Award categories are:
l Outstanding contribution made by a young person or group of young people 18 years or under.
l Selfless service by an individual (over 18) to a voluntary body or to the community.
l Voluntary or community group that improves the quality of life for residents in our district.
l Outstanding business contribution to the well-being of the community.
Nomination forms have already been sent out to schools, parish and town councils and charitable organisations. They can also be downloaded from the council website at www.babergh.gov.uk.
Judging will take place in early December .
