A Great Cornard driving instructor who has been teaching pupils for more than 40 years will put the handbrake on for good as he retires this week.
Ray Davis, from St Andrew’s Road, started in 1965 and estimates he has helped more than 5,000 people with their mirrors, signals, manoeuvres and much more.
“It has been fun over the years,” said Mr Davis. “I have taught three generations of some families.”
He was treated to a surprise party by instructors from across the area at The Saracen’s Head in Newton earlier this month and plans to spend his retirement enjoying his passions of hunting and fishing.
