AN application to build three houses and a garage in Newton has been approved despite protests about the size of the development.
The plans, submitted by property developing firm Drumbridge Contracts Ltd, include the creation of a five-bedroom farmhouse-style property in Whisper Wood, Sudbury Road.
Villagers and the parish council had raised concerns about the proposals, claiming the 0.75 acre site was too small for the plans and only two houses should be built on the land.
Colin Poole, Newton Parish Council chairman, said: “The local view is that people will be overlooked and the largest property at the front is squeezed in. There are too many buildings.”
A decision was expected to be made on the development last month but was delayed after members of Babergh District Council’s development committee requested to visit the site before giving their verdict.
At yesterday’s meeting of the committee the plans were given the go-ahead.
