PLANS for a fast food shop in Bures Road, Great Cornard, have been submitted to Babergh District Council.
Motorspares owner Lou Jenkins said the application for a change of use to his premises to a hot food take-away was speculative.
“It’s being done by a third party,” he said. “They are doing it off their own bat with my knowledge.”
He said his business, which also has a branch in Bury St Edmunds, would continue to trade as normal and, even if the planning application did get approved, it might not mean the end of the car accessories and parts shop.
He said the motor trade parts business was holding up well, with more people working on their own cars because of the economy.
