MURDER INVESTIGATION: “Friendly” and “outgoing” Weybread couple were keen members of local line dancing community
“Friendly” and “outgoing” Weybread couple Peter and Sylvia Stuart were keen members of the local line dancing community.
Suffolk Police are still looking for 69-year-old Mrs Stuart, after the pair were last seen on May 28.
A body, found in woodland near their home in Mill Lane, is believed to be that of Mr Stuart. A 61-year-old from Leicester, reportedly the couple’s son in law Steve Paxman, has been arrested on suspicion of his murder.
Police are also keen to trace Ali Qazimaj, of the Thurrock area in Essex, who they believe is a “key man” as investigations continue.
Mr and Mrs Stuart used to attend classes up to five times a week, including Still Dancing Line Dancing Club run by Karen Poll, 55, and her daughter Nikki Reeve, 31.
“We have known them for about eight years,” said Nikki. “They came to our line dancing club almost every week.
It is a total shock I cannot understand why anybody would want to hurt either of them
“They were very sociable. They were really friendly and really out going. We were always having a laugh with them, Peter especially, Sylvia was a bit quieter.
“They always had a smile on their faces. I do not recall ever seeing them arguing. Peter had a knee operation earlier this year and had a few months off.”
She added: “We have known them since they came to this area and they retired before then.
“They used to bring their granddaughter along to line dancing sometimes.
“It is a total shock I cannot understand why anybody would want to hurt either of them.
“We live in the same area as them and it quite nice and friendly. Not a lot really happens here.
“I work in the nearest town and quite often see them. I cannot understand it. It is a complete shock.”
