A police drone was deployed over the Weybread area earlier today, as the search for a missing local woman continues as part of an ongoing murder investigation.

The drone, operated by Essex Police, is the latest effort to locate Sylvia Stuart, 69, of Mill Lane, who was reported missing on Friday, June 3, along with her husband Peter, 75, whose body was found with multiple stab wounds in nearby woodland later that day.

The joint Suffolk and Norfolk Major Investigation Team is still working with law enforcement agencies abroad to trace Ali Qazimaj, 42, from the Tilbury area of Essex, who previously used the alias of Marco Costa and is wanted in connection with the murder enquiry.

Another man, a 61-year-old from Leicestershire, was arrested last Sunday in relation to the investigation, and was later bailed, to return to police for further questioning on Wednesday, August 3.

Detective Chief Superintendent Simon Parkes, in charge of the Suffolk Police enquiries, said: “Over the weekend, police have been continuing searches and these will be ongoing in a bid to locate Sylvia.

“A lot of work is continuing behind the scenes, including liaison with authorities on the continent to try to locate Ali Qazimaj.

“We are grateful to all of those who have been assisting us. We would still like to hear from anyone who may have information that may help the investigation.”

Anybody with pertinent information is urged to call the Suffolk Police incident room on 01473 782000.
