More than 250 Greater Anglia trains cancelled due to heatwave
More than 250 Greater Anglia trains have been cancelled today due to the scorching temperatures.
The operator has warned that train services running across the whole Greater Anglia network will be cancelled, delayed or revised with disruption expected until the end of the day.
It is advising people 'not to travel unless absolutely necessary'.
In a notice on its website, Greater Anglia said: "Network Rail has set reduced speed limits of 60mph across the whole of our network, so our usual timetable is unable to operate.
"This is to prevent tracks buckling in the exceptional heat, which would cause much worse disruption as trains would not be able to travel on the damaged section/s.
"We apologise to customers for the inconvenience this causes.
"All tickets dated for Thursday, July 25 will be valid on Friday, July 26."
